Paraeducators Supporting Multilingual-English Learner Students
This five-session event focuses on best practices for Bilingual Paraeducators to support multilingual learners. Topics included in the sessions are educational equity, theories of second language acquisition and learning, Common Core State Standards (CCSS), English Language Development (ELD) Standards, Integrated and Designated ELD along with effective strategies to support students in the four domains of language listening, speaking, reading and writing. All sessions are conducted in English.
AUDIENCE: Paraeducators, TOSAs, Instructional Coaches
All sessions are in-person from 8:30-11:30 AM.

Foundational principles necessary to work successfully with multilingual learners
Session 2 - January 15, 2026 (DPMEC Room C)
CCSS and the ELD Standards to support multilingual learners
Session 3 - January 16, 2026 (Schools Insurance Authority Building)
Developing multilingual learners’ listening and speaking skills
Session 4 - January 28, 2026 (Sacramento Site TBD)
Reading strategies that support multilingual learners
Session 5- February 4, 2026 (Sacramento Site TBD)
Writing activities that support multilingual learners
Participants must attend all five sessions to obtain a certificate of completion.

Cancellation Policy: For a refund of pre-payments and to avoid your district being invoiced, cancellations must be received 5 days prior to the event date.
If there is no cancellation email to the ML program staff or through your PLRS account, and there is a no-show, you and/or your district will still be charged.
