Home Visitor Safety and Self Care Workshop, 1:00-4:30pm (SCOE internal staff)
The first in a five-part professional development series for eligible service providers within the Sacramento County CYBHI Consortium. This series is designed to strengthen Sacramento County’s collective capacity to serve students and families across diverse settings while also building the operational readiness needed to successfully bill under the CYBHI fee schedule. Based on the interest level of internal SCOE departments, SBMHW has reserved the afternoon workshop for eligiable providers in Early Learning, Special Education, and SBMHW.
This course will enhance the knowledge, attitudes and skills of those who are involved with visiting clients in their home/ community. This interactive workshop is designed for agency personnel who conduct home visits, as well as supervisors and support staff who assist them. While safety guidelines are often introduced during orientation or outlined in policy manuals, they are rarely reinforced with practical context. This training bridges that gap by focusing on real-world strategies to enhance safety, confidence, and effectiveness in the field. Participants will examine common concerns and precautions when working outside the office, including home visits and community-based interactions. Although most visits proceed without incident, this workshop emphasizes proactive awareness and preventive measures to reduce risk and promote well-being. Through discussion, peer sharing, and action planning, attendees will strengthen their ability to stay safe, professional, and compassionate while serving clients.
