Joyful Literacy Saturday Academies (1/25/25, 3/1/25, 4/26/25) Light Breakfast provided
In these three interactive Saturday sessions, designed for family child care center providers and center-based teachers and administrators, participants will engage with the Joyful Literacy program to support interactive read alouds using culturally affirming storybooks, oral language development, social-emotional growth, and creative expression through play, writing and the arts in early learning settings. Joyful Literacy also promotes family engagement with family activity guides in multiple languages. Participants will be provided with free resources to cultivate joy, creativity, wellness, and literacy development with young children. Attendees will also learn how to use the tools to enhance language interactions using their own favorite books. Educators will leave with the skills and knowledge to begin transforming teaching and learning with young children and relationships with families beginning Monday morning. Grounded in the science of language and literacy development, Joyful Literacy is a partnership between the Sacramento County Office of Education and the Institutional Education Sciences' Regional Education Laboratory West of the U.S. Department of Education. All participants will have access to a community Padlet with free resources, videos, and opportunities for further exploration through communities of practice.
