Building Biliteracy: Strengthening Hmong, Spanish, and Vietnamese Dual Language Programs


A Session Dedicated to Dual Language Teaching and Learning

 

Participants will build their understanding of biliteracy foundational skills for students in Hmong, Spanish, and Vietnamese  Dual Language program setting. Participants will engage in linguistic aspects specific to Hmong, Spanish, and Vietnamese including exploring ways to teach in their programs

In this session, participants will deepen their understanding of foundational biliteracy skills, with a specific focus on students in Hmong,Spanish, and Vietnamese Dual Language programs. The workshop will explore the unique linguistic features of the languages, guiding participants through the intricacies of each language and how these elements can be effectively integrated into dual language instruction. The first hour will review DLI model programs,language allocation, and principles. The second hour will divide the group into the foundations and transferability of each language.  

 

Audience: Elementary DLI Classroom Teachers, Instructional Coaches, TOSAs, EL Leaders
