Community School Coordinators Basics
The Community Schools Coordinators (CSCs) Basics series will give participants an orientation to the role of site-level Community School Coordinators/Managers. While designed for site-level CSCs, this series will also be useful to site leaders, districts and COEs in understanding how they can support site-level CSCs and implications for their own work.
This learning opportunity comprises three sessions described below and will include taking a deep dive into understanding the role, responsibilities, and skills needed to be successful in this pivotal position. Participants will have opportunities to both unpack and grapple with these foundational concepts, practice new skills, and make connections to fellow practioners. The content is aligned across sessions, we encourage you to attend all three.

Session One focuses on setting the foundation for successful community schools development -- participants will unpack for deeper understanding a shared definition of the community school strategy, the Community Schools Essentials Framework, enabling conditions for success, and the CSC role. Participants will have the opportunity to surface questions, learning needs and ideas to inform the content of the next two sessions.

Session Two goes into more detail about the CSC role, responsibilities and necessary skills, including building and leading teams, facilitating shared visioning and decision-making, and strategies for centering transformational family engagment and youth voice. Particpants will have opportunities to unpack these concepts and get some hands on practice with new skills.
Spotlight on the CSC’s Role With Data, Advisory Councils and Needs and Assets Assessments (VIRTUAL)

Session Three focuses on the ways in which CSCs lead advisory councils / school site leadership teams and facilitate the needs assessment and asset mapping processes. This session also addresses sourcing, analyzing and using data, and the role that CSCs can play in ensuring that data is accessible – and accessed – by a wide range of interest holders and useful to the school community in setting goals and priorities and tracking progress.
