Learn about the just-in-time reclassification process for dually identified students who are designated as both English Learners (EL) and students with mild to moderate support needs.
In this session, you will:
- Understand the reclassification pathways for students in special education with mild-moderate needs to become Fluent English Proficient, including the necessary processes and support.
- Learn how to lead and facilitate an IEP/EL team discussion on reclassification, including possible accommodations and modifications to support learners through the testing process.
- Distinguish between the responsibilities of special education, general education, and English learner services in the reclassification process.
- Utilize the "Assessment & Support for English Learners" IEP form effectively.
- Complete a "Worksheet for IEP Team Recommendation for Reclassification of Special Education English Learner to Fluent English Proficient."
Intended Audience: This training is intended for Special Education Administrators, Program Specialists, Case Managers, English Learner Specialist, Directors and Coordinators.
