Join us for our Winter Community of Practice! Let’s learn together about ways to support adolescent literacy success. Following the keynote, we will collaborate in team time and across LEAs.
Sessions are designed for LEA literacy leadership teams. Team members may include: Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, Chief Academic Officers, Site Leaders, Instructional Coaches. We also encourage LEA Elementary and Secondary leaders in Curriculum & Instruction, Equity, MTSS, Special Education, Multilingual Education, Early Learning, Expanded Learning, and Assessment & Research to attend.
Dr. Christy Austin is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah in the Educational Psychology’s Literacy, Language, and Learning program. Her research focuses on reading interventions for students with reading difficulties and disabilities, with a particular interest in older struggling readers and English learners. Before becoming a professor, Dr. Austin worked as a special education teacher, reading specialist, special education coordinator, and assistant principal. She is passionate about training preservice and in service teachers to provide reading instruction and intervention that will support all students in making progress toward grade-level proficiency.
