Watch Party: Data Governance Academy - Session 1

Starting in 2026, LEAs will be eligible for Differentiated Assistance (DA) based on CALPADS data quality. Persistent and routinely cited data quality challenges at California’s LEAs center on siloed work and a lack of coordinated, enterprise-wide data governance.

The Data Governance Academy supports LEAs and COEs assisting LEAs in Differentiated Assistance (DA) through the CALPADS pathway. We encourage broad participation—cabinet leaders, IT and related staff, and CALPADS administrators—because the training both educates and jumpstarts local Data Governance efforts. Unlike traditional CSIS trainings, this series is not designed for staff doing routine CALPADS work, though they are welcome to join alongside leadership. Session 1 focuses on helping leaders view and act on data from an enterprise-wide perspective, not within any single system. The Academy introduces simplified Data Governance concepts and strategies for leadership teams to implement the structures, policies, and accountability needed to elevate data quality in CALPADS and across the enterprise. While developed as a preventative support for CALPADS-related DA, participation does not require DA eligibility.

Participants attending the watch party need to bring a laptop and mobile device.

Note: This session is being held in Santa Clara, but SCOE is hosting a virtual “Watch Party”. There are only two ways to attend - in person at Santa Clara COE or virtually at SCOE

Intended for: Superintendents, Cabinet-Level Leaders, IT Leadership, COE DA and Data Personnel
