LTEL Differentiated Assistance Network
What?
This is the continuation of the LTEL DA Network which began in January 2024 for schools and districts committed to transforming systems and improving outcomes for long-term English learners (LTELs). SCOE U: Learning That Lasts: Reflection and Retrieval Strategies
If you lead trainings, learning sessions or facilitate network meetings, this session is for you! Offered by Sacramento-based Katrina Kennedy, who, for over 26 years, has been transforming how organizations approach learning through evidence-based, interactive training methods to design and deliver learning that lasts. Her upcoming book, Learning That Lasts reflects her passion for equipping trainers and facilitators with strategies that increase the likelihood learners remember what we taught.
Do you wonder if participants implement their training? Or if they’re able to recall things you’ve covered when they are back on the job? In this session, we’ll explore retrieval practice methods and identify the science behind why they matter for every learner. We’ll identify the reasons you can’t skip retrieval practice in your next class or one-on-one learning moment. At the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Describe retrieval practice as a learning strategy for the workplace
- Identify 6 methods of retrieval practice
- Develop a retrieval practice method for use in your own training

LTEL Differentiated Assistance Network
What?
This is the continuation of the LTEL DA Network which began in January 2024 for schools and districts committed to transforming systems and improving outcomes for long-term English learners (LTELs). Together, we tackle challenges, share strategies, and create meaningful change to ensure every LTEL student thrives!
The ideal team should include a diverse group of individuals from both the district and school levels who can provide valuable insights and perspectives to guide the improvement work, ensuring a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing the needs of LTEL students. Team members may include district leaders overseeing English learner programs, site administrators, instructional coaches, classroom teachers, and specialists such as EL coordinators.
Commitment
Each team should plan to attend all four network meetings and be available for a 30-minute call with a SCOE improvement coach between meetings.

Autism and Mental Health
In 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that approximately 1 in 44 children in the Unites States is diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Given the high prevalence of ASD, it is important for individuals in education to understand more about the disorder, as well as the mental health conditions that often present comorbidly. This training will provide education related to mental health disorders that frequently affect individuals diagnosed with ASD, as well as corresponding treatment interventions.
Participants Will
- Learn about ASD and the mental health disorders that often present comorbidly
- Learn strategies to assess for mental health disorders and ASD
- Learn treatment interventions to utilize when working with students who have both ASD and a mental health disorder
